The Liebster Award – Third time’s a charm?

Liebster AwardWow! I have now been nominated for the Leibster award three times! This must be some sort of record 🙂 This time Andrea at Review Books and More was nice enough to nominate me. Thanks Andrea!

For those who don’t know, the award is a way to recognize up and coming bloggers and encourage people to visit new/interesting blogs. First, I must answer the following questions…

1. What is your favorite font?

Hmmm. I know it’s weird for a writer not to have a favorite font, but I’ve never really thought about it. I’ll say … Garamond

2. What is the first book you remember reading?

Gosh, um… Not a hundred percent sure. The first books I read on a regular basis were a part of the Sweet Valley High series with Elizabeth and Jessica Wakefield. Oh, yes, those were the good old days…

3. What is the first book you fell in love with and never wanted to end?

I remember being really attached to Where the Red Fern Grows.

4. How much time do you spend on the computer a day for work?

Right now, I probably spend about 3 to 4 hours for my consulting work. When I had my 9 to 5 job, I probably spent 7 hours for work.

5. How much time do you spend on the computer a day for other reasons?

I’d say around 5 hours – blogging, research, Pinterest, looking at cute cat pictures…

6. Do you have an animal companion? What type of animal and name?

Three cats: MoJo, Lindie and Olive. One squirrel who thinks he owns all the almonds in my house: I call him Uppity, because he’s too good for peanuts.

7. What is the motto of your life?

Find what you’re passionate about and go for it. Who cares what anyone else thinks?

8. What do you want for Christmas?

A Kindle and a magic elf that will edit all my novels and clean my house while I’m sleeping.

9. Do you like cheese? (Really, I just wanted to ask something silly).

Cheese used to be my favorite food–I put it on everything, but I’ve cut dairy out my diet. I feel much better now and I don’t really miss it!

10. Name one person you admire.

Anyone who has the guts to step away from a job/situation that is comfortable and go for their dreams.

And now, the other blogs I nominate for the award:

The Wordsmith’s Review

Monsters and Musings

Love from Tara

The Walking Brain Dead

I have done some research and found that the origins of the Liebster are a little foggy and the rules have changed over time, with different versions of the award floating around out there. Some have you just list random facts about yourself, some have you only nominate 5 other bloggers, etc. So, for those of you that I’ve nominated feel free to accept or decline the award, participation is optional and nominate as many bloggers as you like.

Okay, so here are the rules:

-Each nominee must link back the person who nominated them.
-Answer the 10 questions which are given to you by the nominator.
-Nominate up to 10 other bloggers for this award who have less than 200 followers.
-Create 10 questions for your nominees to answer.
-Let the nominees know that they have been nominated by going to their blog and notifying them

Here are my 10 questions:

1. Spicy food: yummy or heartburn in the making?

2. Have you ever stayed in a hostel? How about a bed and breakfast?

3. Do you still own any stuffed animals?

4. Mittens or gloves? Or neither?

5. If you could change one thing about the way you look, what would it be? Or would you change anything?

6. What is your biggest fear, that is also somewhat irrational?

7.  Have you ever cheated at a board game?

8. Where do you eat most of your meals? On the couch? At the dining room table? Standing in the kitchen? In a comfy diner booth?

9. Is there a food that you just can’t stand?

10. Have you ever bought anything you saw on an infomercial?

Thanks and have fun!

Time to Celebrate – The Liebster Award!

Liebster AwardGuess what, everyone. I have been nominated for the Liebster Award again!. This time momof3isnuts was nice enough to nominate me!

The award is a way to recognize up and coming bloggers and encourage people to visit new/interesting blogs. First, I must answer the following questions…

1. If you could have any super power, what would it be? Why?

I’m going to say super-human strength. How great would it be to open all those jars by myself? Or carry all of the groceries in with one trip!

2. Which three people, living or not, would you invite to dinner? Why?

Ellen Degeneres (because she’s funny and seems super nice), Ernest Hemingway (you know, the whole writer thing) and Damon Salvatore from the Vampire Diaries. Not the actor, the actual vampire. Because I think it would make dinner that much more interesting.

3. Climbing? or Zip Lining?

Zip lining. I think I’m too out of shape for climbing…

4. If money were no object, what would you do all day?

Probably a mix of traveling, writing and crafting. Not all in the same day, that would be a lot.

5. What has been your biggest challenge?

Pushing myself to make the most of every day and not frittering it away with inconsequential things.

6. If you could go back in time, what year would you travel to?

England in 1587. It would be great research for my novels. And I’d probably have a greater appreciation for all our modern day luxuries–a day without a latte? Yikes!

7. If you could stay a certain age forever, what age would that be?

Probably 32. A nice mix of youth and experience.

8. If you could learn to do anything, what would it be?

Oh, I wish I could sing or play an instrument. Music is such an amazing way to express yourself.

9. When you have 30 minutes of free time, how do you pass the time?

Somehow it feels like I have no free time… but I’m sure I do, I just have to figure out where I’ve put it. I’m going to say reading or playing on Pinterest.

10. What do you find beautiful?

The changing of the seasons, my husband’s smile and the compassion most people have for others.

And now, the other blogs I nominate for the award:

Fruit and Family

The Crafty Coup

M.C. Dulac

Alystair White

Fictitious Fishes

Since this was the second time I’ve been nominated, I did a little research and discovered the origins of the Liebster are a little foggy and the rules have changed over time, with different versions of the award floating around out there. Thanks and have fun!

The day has finally come – The Liebster Award!

Liebster AwardHold onto your hats everyone. I have an announcement to make. I, yes I, have been nominated for the Liebster Award by Josh at Laughter is the Best Medicine. The award is a way to recognize up and coming bloggers and encourage people to visit new/interesting blogs. First, I must answer the following questions…

1. What is your favorite breakfast food?

Breakfast burritos, for sure. When I make them at home I pan fry the tortillas so they get a little bit crispy. Mmmm.

2. If you could travel to any place in the world, where would you go?

Okay, why are you making me choose. That is just mean. I’ve always wanted to go to Alaska. Then there’s the Galapagos Islands. Maybe Ireland because my next book is going to be set there.

3. Who is someone who inspires you?

Anyone who has the guts to step away from a job/situation that is comfortable and go for their dreams.

4. What was your least favorite class in school and why?

Statistics. There were three things working against me: My teacher not only had a speech impediment, but English was his second language. I would have rather sat through organic chemistry than study statistics. And the class was at 7 or 8 a.m. and really, what college student can be up and attentive at that hour?

5. Are you an optimist, a pessimist or a realist?

Optimist, for sure. Although, I do like to complain, but in a funny, upbeat way.

6. What is your favorite movie quotation?

Since Wedding Crashers is one of my favorite movies, it would have to be: “I’d like to be pimps from Oakland or cowboys from Arizona but it’s not Halloween. Grow up Peter Pan, Count Chocula.”

7. Who wins the cuteness battle; dogs or cats?

Wow. For an animal lover this should be a tough question. But it’s not. Cats all the way. *Singing* Who let the kitties out? Meow, Meow, Meow, Meow…

8. Which celebrity annoys you the most?

Kim Kardashian for obvious reasons. Wait, is she a celebrity?

9. What is your favorite season and why?

Eeek. You’d think with only four to choose from this would be easy. It seems I always like the season that is about to start. Like right now I’m looking forward to fall. Changing leaves, carving pumpkins, eating pie. Yep, I’ll say fall.

10. The silliest thing I have done in the last week is…

Probably dancing like a zombie to Michael Jackson’s Thriller. You know, one of those things you do at a wedding.

And now, 10 other blogs I nominate for the award:

Mom Goes On

It’s Complicated

Normaljan80

Words of Wisdom from Aunt Mel
